PREPARATION:
No slicing, dicing, spicing, stirring, mixing or pre-heating necessary. Shuffle each
of the 4 decks and place them on their corners of the board. Each player selects a color
token and places it on the START COOKIN' COOKS CHOICE space.
OBJECT:
Be the first player to collect 8 cards, 2 from each deck. And while youre doing
that enjoy the experience of sharing, friendship and laughter.
THE PLAY:
The hungriest player goes first. Play continues to the left.
TO START THE
GAME:
The first player takes a card from any deck, rolls the die to pick a question,
directive or task on the card, and tries to accomplish what the card asks. If the player
is successful, he or she collects the card and moves ahead the number of spaces indicated
on the card.
Its three
easy steps on each turn.
See the Condensed Soup Recipe below.
CONDENSED
SOUP RECIPE:
Do this on every turn:
1. Pick a card.
2. Roll the die.
3. Do what the card says to collect a card and to move your token.
Heres
more about the three steps.
PICK A CARD: The space your token is on at the start of your turn determines which
card deck you pick from. For example, if the Red players token is sitting on a KEY
INGREDIENTS space, then a KEY INGREDIENTS card is selected.
Cooks
Choice Space: This is a wild space. A player here can choose a card from any of the 4
decks.
Each of the 4
decks gives you a very different play experience. We'll talk about them later.
ROLL THE DIE:
You can roll a picture of a spoon, bowl or pot of soup. See below:
These pictures
match the symbols on cards which determine which of the three challenges you must answer
or accomplish.

that everyone gets to participate. Heres what to do when you draw a card:

listing that the die indicates. It may say list 1 or as many as 7 things
2. All players
then secretly write down their lists on sheets from
the pad.
3. Read your
list aloud. Players compare their answers with yours. Count your total number of matches.
If you have as many or more than the card asks, you win the card and move your token as
directed. See below.

DONE!
The game is over when any player collects at least 2 cards from each of the 4 decks. The
first player to do so, wins the game.
COOKING TIPS:
If for any
reason, you cannot choose the player that a card indicates to either match or find out
something about, just pick any player to answer.
Matches do not
have to be exact in this game. For example, If someone says candy makes them smile and a
player has listed
chocolate, we
think thats close enough for a match. Theres never one real winner in
this game game. Everyone who plays wins. Youll enjoy discovering things about each
other and sharing life-affirming experiences. Just
as the Chicken Soup for the Soul books open the heart and rekindle the spirit, the game
will do so, too.
TEAM PLAY:
Any number of people can play. Just split the group into teams. Everyone can play KEY
INGREDIENTS together, but you may want to double the number to be matched for more of a
challenge. In the case of the 3 other decks, each team chooses a player to compete
one-on-one.
